How to see Notion edit history

Open any page, click the ••• menu in the top right and choose Page history. Notion lists snapshots with the editor’s name and a timestamp, and you can preview or restore an earlier version. The retention window depends on your Notion plan; free workspaces keep a shorter history than paid ones.

This is the right tool when you know which page you care about and want to answer “what did this look like before?”

In any database, add two properties: Last edited time and Last edited by. Notion maintains both automatically. Sort a projects or initiatives database by last edited time descending and you have a rough activity feed; filter to “before 30 days ago” and you have a staleness report.

The limitation is scope. Each database only reports on itself, so five databases mean five separate views to check.

The All updates inbox in the sidebar collects recent changes on pages you follow or were mentioned in. It is useful for personal awareness and poor for organisational awareness — it reflects your subscriptions, not your organisation’s structure.

All three views answer “something changed.” None of them answer “does this change matter?” A timestamp cannot tell you that an objective now has no active initiatives beneath it, that the only owner of a risk left the company, or that two teams have created near-duplicate projects. Those are questions about relationships, not revisions.

How do I see the edit history of a Notion page?
